Chris Stevens philosophizing
rants from the show Northern Exposure are so
memorable, I had to type them out. Because Cicely
Alaska seems so much like Jerome Arizona, I have
made a list of my favorite radio shows that he
hosted on the television program. To see the list,

Episode 3.06, "The
Body in Question"
It's time for us to
say au revoir to Pierre.
Where'd he come from, where's he going? I
guess we could all ask the same questions of
ourselves. I'm going to let a fellow
Frenchman here have the last words:
When from a long
distant past nothing persists, after the
people are dead, after things are broken
and scattered, still alone, more
persistent, more faithful, the smell and
taste of things remain poised a long,
long time like souls, ready to remind
us, waiting, hoping for their moment
amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear
unfaltering in the tiny, almost
impalpable drop of their essence, the
vast structure of recollection.
