Sedona, Arizona

Awe Sedona, for those of you
have visited this place, it is like no other.
But even the haven of Sedona has a history.
While Jerome was the big
city, in it's day, Sedona was merely little town
on the outskirts of town where Jerome citizens
summered or visited friends who
owned
apple orchards or farms.
Later Sedona grew to be known
as a picturesque place to film westerns. Many a
movie was made in Sedona and throughout Northern
Arizona.
By the 1980s the term coined
New Age became popular and new thinking people
from all over the world poured into Sedona. At
the same time came the intrigue of its beauty.
Housing prices began to climb, movie stars
bought second or third homes in Sedona and
before you know it, USA Today is calling it
America's most beautiful town.
I had the good fortune of
growing up around Sedona before everybody else
discovered it. I recall driving up Oak Creek
Canyon with my family and helping the Pendley's
pick apples. I recall as a teenager that the
best swimming hole was Slide
Rock-
back when it was merely a swimming hole. As all
things change, so has Sedona, but at least the
surrounding beauty remains the same.
